This website was created at the Doel Reed Center.
Earth Formed Earth Fed shows viewers some of the traditional agricultural and architectural practices of Native American tribes in Taos and northern New Mexico, highlighting their deep-rooted connection to the land, community, and spirituality. By exploring how materials like adobe and crops such as corn, beans, and squash shaped daily life, the site emphasizes the sustainable and harmonious relationship these communities maintained with their environment. Organic shapes, earthy colors, and natural patterns were intentionally chosen to reflect the region’s landscape. These design elements create a visual language that mirrors the flowing forms of adobe structures, the warmth of sunbaked earth, and the cultural richness of Native artistry, grounding the viewer in the themes of nature, tradition, and resilience.
